Method
Cyanotype type photography requires any material, usually paper or fabric to be coated in a solution of ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide. Then placing the plant or other materials on the paper and exposing it light. This type of photography was inexpensive and easy to produce
Anna Atkins used this type of photography to create photographs of plants. She did this by placing dried plants onto cyantope paper then light would create a silhouette effect, where the plant was placed stayed white, while the background turned blue. This type of photograph was popular in 19th century England but fell out of use as other photography methods improved. However, it is still used in artchitecture becoming known as the blueprint.
